Why We're Proud To Back British Farming

Posted by Charlotte Wright on

As a family-run business, we understand the importance of supporting those around us, from independent coffee shops, to our local butchers and town bakers

Food produced in the UK is produced to some of the highest welfare standards in the world. We're proud to support British farming by using British ingredients across our entire food and treats range here at The Innocent Pet. We feel that it allows our customers to buy with confidence in the knowledge that they are feeding their pets some of the best produce the UK has to offer.

Why should we support British farming?

Animal health and welfare: The UK offers some of the best animal welfare standards in the world, with well-developed industry bodies, comprehensive legal frameworks and quality assurance schemes who recognise the importance of animal health and welfare. Other exporting countries have less developed welfare frameworks in comparison to the UK, so British farmers are rightly proud of the high standards here however the increased cost of it puts them at a commercial disadvantage compared to other countries.

Traceability: Britain is well known across the world for its excellent food traceability levels. All of the meat we use at Innocent HQ is fully traceable which is vital for food safety.

Food security: The world has witnessed food shortages due to export and importing coming to a stop due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. By continuing to support British, farmers can continue to reinvest in their produce to grow and raise as much food as they can to provide national food security for the future.
